My head is full of summer!

That's what Ben declared as we went outside to play one day this week. It was warm and a bit humid that day and he was delighted. Being a bit grumpy I had to restrain myself from saying "No Ben, that's seasonal allergies in your head, not summer."

Our heads are full of summer though because we are busy making plans: 2 weeks of summer camp for the boys; t-ball for the boys; swimming lessons for all of the kids (there is a Mom baby class for Anna); Cub Scout camp for JJ and reading classes for JJ.

Grandma will be looking forward to some therapy pool time- not. She likes it once she gets there, but dislikes getting ready, loading the kids, leaving the kids in the daycare, and then showering and dressing again. The pool is heated to a toasty temperature specifically for those who are rehabilitating from injury or suffering from arthritis. Once in the water Moms arthritis pain is greatly relieved and she looks 10 years younger instantly. I am hoping that she can regain some of the balance and stamina she lost over the many bouts of bronchitis she had over the winter.

I am just looking forward to some time in the sun- some time free from excessive volunteer responsibilities.

Unpredictable Weather

JJ (above) and Ben (below) enjoying the Easter festivities.

Easter fun is best viewed over the shoulder of an uncle. Anna prefers to be carried like a royal princess.
I love spring! The plants, the birds, the followers and even the rain. The weather seems like it is finally done swinging from winter to summer. I don't like erratic weather. I like seasonable weather- warm or cool.

Middle age is like erratic weather. Hair in all the wrong places. Strange illnesses. Insomnia. Poor fitting clothes. Oh, and my favorite- hot flashes. Gaah.

Over the last month or so we learned that my husband is diabetic. I have been working to modify our diet and lifestyle so that we eat healthier and exercise more. Can I just tell you how popular I am? Really, what husband doesn't want his wife in hyper vigilant what are you eating mode? Carb counting is so much fun. John and I are working on loosing weight and it is going well. We have a friendly wager going on percentage of weight lost- not because either of us wants a prize but just because we each like to compete.
